Very easy to make especially if you are using a “food processor”.
Ingredients
4 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons dry yeast
¾ cup warm milk
½ cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
2 eggs
Pinch of salt
Decoration
1 teaspoon cinnamon (or more if you are crazy about it)
½ cup brown sugar
Heavy cream (optional)
Directions
- Warm half of the milk in a small bowl with ½ teaspoon of sugar. Add the yeast, mix well and let it sit around 15 minutes or until it becomes foamy.
- In the meantime warm the remaing milk with the sugar and butter just enough to melt the butter. Do not let it boil.
- Add the eggs and salt to the butter and mix.
- Put the flour in the food processor and mix for few seconds.
- With the machine still running, pour the liquid mixture and the yeast into the flour. Keep the food processor running for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the dough from the food processor and put it into a slightly oiled bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 30-45 minutes.
- Knock down the dough and divide it into two equal pieces.
- Form it into buttered tart molds, preferably. Make holes with the tip of your fingers
- Let it rise a second time until it doubles in size.
- Optional step: fill in the holes with cream
- Sprinkle with a mix of brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Bake in a 375 deg F for 20-25 minutes.
